NEW POSITION ASSIGNMENTS
We welcome Heather Eversole as the new Administrative Assistant. Heather will also serve as the Civil Manager and the Concealed Handgun License Administrator. Additionally, Deputy Luke Campbell has transferred to south county criminal division (patrol) while Deputy Buck Maganzini has transferred from corrections to the criminal division in north county.

NEW PINE CREEK
Witnesses report an unknown number of individuals in a white SUV on Stateline Road firing a large caliber handgun at an unknown target.  Occupants then yelled for the driver to hurry and drive away.  An hour later another New Pine Creek resident reported vandalism (non-firearm) to his property.

FIRE SEASON
Fire season is here.  Last week a several acre fire north of the prison brought mutual aid from a number of fire agencies with a bit of the fire being contained by hand for more than an hour until fire trucks were available.  Only a few pictures are available of yesterday’s Summer Lake Fire and because of the threat to structures significant resources were quickly mobilized.

CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION
Twice in the past two weeks, persons unidentified have called intended victims in the United States, reporting to be law enforcement personnel from Lake County.  Victims are told there is a warrant for their arrest.  To prevent their immediate arrest it is demanded that money be sent. How many demands have resulted in actual monies being paid is not known. But this recent addition to the criminal investigation makes for very interesting reading.  Criminal Impersonation

WEB PAGE REPAIRS - IDENTITY THEFT
A couple of web users reported link failures on the Identity Theft page.  Statement forms and victim rights forms could not be downloaded.  The links are now repaired and it appears that all identity theft forms can be accessed.  If you still have trouble with the download, let me know and we’ll work to remedy the problem.

CRIME INFORMATION
During the evening of June 6th, 2011, person(s) unknown vandalized the New Pine Creek Post Office, breaking into Post Office boxes, the outside mailbox, and stealing mail. Mail that had been delivered to PO boxes was found opened and abandoned along the highway several miles south of New Pine Creek.

CRIME INFORMATION
Property believed stolen from numerous victims is surrendered to the Sheriff’s Office. The volume of property may take a number of days to document and inventory.  Property is believed to be from California as well as Oregon.  If you have been the victim of theft in south Lake County or Modoc County, please be sure you have a theft report on file with a description of your missing property. A list of the stolen property will be provided to investigating law enforcement officers from all agencies in Modoc and Lake Counties when the inventory is completed.

A link to the National Sex Offender database is added.  Click on the National Sex Offender database in the links column at the right side of this page.  Then click on the top left link on the NSO page, read and agree to the terms, and enter your data.  The site is easy to use and you only need the smallest amount of information to find a registered offender.

During the early morning hours a New Pine Creek resident finds an adult male stealing property from a neighboring residence.  Alan Owen is arrested and lodged in the Lake County Jail.  Information Wanted
